- Elaboration on the Mechanisms of the Kyoto Protocol: COP 5 saw in-depth discussions on the mechanisms of the Kyoto Protocol, including emissions trading, the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), and Joint Implementation (JI).
- Compliance: The need for a compliance regime under the Kyoto Protocol was discussed to ensure that parties adhere to their commitments.
